Athena Artists is a free spirited group of friends who happen to be artists. It was conceived through collaboration with directives to show and promote the work of artists they care about and whose work they admire. This eclectic group of women from the Milwaukee area consist of a potter, jeweler, felt handbag maker, water colorist, ceramic artist, children's clothing designer, ecletctic media artist and stained glass artist. Each artist shows her work at fine art and craft shows thorughout the Midwest, as well as in galleries nationwide.

The group chose Athena Artists as their name since the goddess Athena was a deity of diverse functions and attributes. Although her most conspicuous role was perhaps that of a goddess of war, she was also a patron of the arts and crafts, wisdom and strength.
